Art from the Heart

Beecroft Art Gallery

8/3/25 - 1/6/25

Join us for a powerful exhibition celebrating creativity, resilience, and personal expression from people rebuilding their lives after experiencing homelessness in Southend.

This collection showcases work created by individuals supported by HARP, a local charity that helps people find a route out of homelessness for good. Each piece reflects unique perspectives, experiences, and aspirations, highlighting the strength and creativity within our community.

At HARP, we support around 1,000 people each year who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Through our recovery programme, we provide opportunities to develop skills, improve wellbeing, and regain stability—offering activities such as health and wellbeing sessions, sports, employment support, education, and creative arts.

Creative expression is a powerful tool for wellbeing, providing a sense of purpose, space for reflection, and a way to reconnect with personal identity. For many, engaging in art has been an important part of their journey towards a more stable future.

This exhibition is more than a display of artistic talent—it challenges outdated perceptions of homelessness, offering a deeper understanding of the individuals behind the label. Each piece tells a story of perseverance, creativity, and hope.

Art from the Heart is a testament to the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive. We invite you to experience this inspiring collection and stand in solidarity with those who are working towards a brighter future.
