Netpark Wellbeing Project
Location: Beecroft17 April 2018 - 15 July 2018
NetPark Wellbeing project is an exciting partnership between Metal and Southend Borough Council Integrated Clinical Commissioning Group.
The Wellbeing project invites those living with mental health conditions including; dementia, learning disabilities and loneliness, to engage in outdoor spaces creatively using digital apps, digital art and traditional art.
The project is based in Chalkwell Park, Metal’s Art school and utilises NetPark. NetPark is the world’s first digital art park, launched in October 2015 by Metal and is a free, public wifi-enabled outdoor space set in Chalkwell Park.
NetPark encourages people to use apps and digital media which increases participants self confidence in using this technology.
Our vision is to provide a quality intervention that can improve the mental wellbeing of the people of Southend through the reflective processes of walking in nature and undertaking new skills in art making and technology.
When working with those living with dementia we aim to offer a safe, peaceful space to create art and talk to others whilst giving their carers 2 hours of respite. All volunteers who work with the dementia groups are dementia friends.
The project aims to enable people to develop social networks so they can live independently. We believe that social networks improve participant’s chances of living independent for longer and with less need for medical interventions.
We want to give volunteers and participants invaluable experience, new skills and increased self-esteem and confidence so that they become less reliant on traditional health and social care services thus reducing crisis interventions.
This will be the third exhibition we have held with the support of the Beecroft Art gallery.
