Inspiring collections and beautiful buildings…

Access Information

Southend Central Museum

Although the front door uses steps, a disabled access ramp entrance is located to the right side of the building.  Please ring the bell for assistance.

The ground floor is fully accessible but as Central Museum currently does not have a lift, the first floor (and therefore the Planetarium and toilets) are inaccessible.

Disabled toilets are available next door in the Beecroft Art Gallery.

Limited disabled parking spaces are available to the rear of the building.  Access is through the Beecroft Rear Staff Car Park (to the left of the multi-storey car park entrance).

Beecroft Art Gallery

The front entrance is one level and all floors are fully accessible via public lifts.

A disabled toilet is available on the Ground Floor.

Limited disabled parking spaces are available to the rear of the building. Access is through the Beecroft Rear Staff Car Park (to the left of the multi-storey car park entrance).

Prittlewell Priory

The Visitor Centre is all on one level, allowing access throughout, and housing a disabled toilet.

The Priory is a two-floor building - the second floor is accessible via a self-operated lift.  One area is inaccessible in a wheelchair - the Minstrel's Gallery (a small balcony overlooking the Refectory) though the Refectory can be seen from behind the gallery.

Limited disabled parking spaces are available to the side of the Visitor Centre. Access is through the Priory Park car park - on entering the park, keep going straight rather than turning right into the main car park.

Southchurch Hall

There is very restricted access throughout Southchurch Hall.

The Ground Floor Main Hall, Kitchen, and Solar Rooms are accessible via the rear entrance.  There is no bell on the rear entrance - to access please send a companion to the front entrance to request assistance or call 01702 467671.

The front entrance - leading to the refreshment and shop area and toilets - has one step and no ramp.  There is no disabled toilet facility.

There is no dedicated parking for the Hall, but there is free street parking along Park Lane. It is recommended that you enter the Gardens via the Southchurch Hall Close entrance (off Park Lane) and cross the footbridge to reach the Hall's rear entrance.
